Havertown is located very close to Philadelphia, about a half hour drive. It can take this long taking public transportation also, depending on which method you use. Also the Main Line is next to Havertown in Lower Merion and Ardmore township

Havertown is easy accessible through Philadelphia's public transportation SEPTA. You can get buses from 69th street that run through town, also the regional rail pases through it. It is not difficult to get into Havertown from Philadelphia at all. Also the highway I-95 has a separate exit I-476 or the Blue Route that runs right by Havertown.

Get around

It is easy to walk around Havertown, but the best way to get around is by car. Public Transportation is also an option but not the best.

See

There are many public parks, baseball fields, and playground that are of interest of many of the residents and visitors. Also there are a few Irish shops and bars that are very popular since there is a strong Irish-American population in Havertown.

The skatium has free skate times when you can go and skate for a very reasonable price. Also Manoa shopping center is full of shops and places if you are interested in shopping. Suburban Square, which is next to Havertown in Ardmore has a abundance of shops and boutiques that are a little more expensive but more fashionable. King Of Prussia mall which is one of the biggest malls on the east coast is relatively close to Havertown and is very easy to each taking SEPTA which has a bus that runs through Havertown to the mall. If you would like to enjoy the outdoors then your best bet is to use one of the local parks. Steele field has 4 baseball diamonds, and Williamson field has 2 baseball diamonds and 4 soccer fields. If you like to play basketball a popular spot is Bailey park which has 2 courts. A great spot to go if you are of Irish heritage are the two Irish shops located a different sides of town. If you enjoy bowling then Wynnwood Lanes is a great spot, having fun features like Rock N Bowl where you can bowl from 11pm-2am for a good price.

Havertown is known for having many pizza shops, all which are very popular. The most popular one though is cenzos which is a favorite of the youth. If you like genuine Philly cheese steaks and hoagies Pig and Whistle and Halligans are known for being the best. If you want something more refined then J.B. Dawson's steakhouse is a good pick with a wide variety of options and a casual, pleasant atmosphere. Another place that is known for good dining but is expensive are the restaurants at suburban square and the main line which is in Ardmore. Also Sam Pam Inn located in the center of town on Brookline Blvd. is known for being a very good Chinese and Japanese restaurant.

Drink

Havertown has many bars located throughout the town. Barnaby's which is located on the edge of town is known for good happy hours and also a hot spot for the younger crowd. They also have a huge porch that is opened up in the summer which is nice. Brownies, which is located also in Ardmore is one of the most popular spots for the younger crowd also, having live shows on most nights. If you are looking for a more older crowd then the recently turned 21 then Maggie O'Neils, a Irish themed bar is a good spot. In addition to Maggie O'Neils, Oakmont Pub which also has a porch is more popular for the post-college and affluent young crowd. If you are into dive bars then Manoa Tavern, Kilgallons and Burke's Inn are the spot for you. Also the Blvd. Bar and Grill which is located on Brookline Blvd. in Havertown.
