'''Invermere''' [http://www.invermere.ca/] is a popular year-round tourist destination in southeastern British Columbia in the East Kootenays nestled between the Rocky Mountains and the Purcell Mountains.
Get in
The nearest airport is in Calgary. From Calgary, take the Trans Canada Highway (Route 1) West. Then take the Highway 93 South (southwest). Merge onto Highway-93/Highway-95 South at Radium Hot Springs. You should start to see signs telling you where Invermere is. The benefit of this route is the ride through Banff and Kootenay Park. You will, however, need to purchase a pass to park anywhere in the park. For more nature, take the road less traveled. Take Highway 1A instead of Highway 1 and turn west at Castle mountain. Highway 1A has less traffic and the trees are closer to the road creating a palpable sense of closeness with nature.
Get around
As long as your in the town, everything is in walking distance. However, having a car is highly recommended as the town is difficult to reach by other means of transportation as there isn't a large city in the area.
