The '''Toledo Settlement''', which still appears on some modern maps, usually refers to the area in the Toledo District of southern Belize that was settled by Confederate Settlers fleeing the US after the end of the civil war.

Understand
Despite the Toledo Settlement being one of the more successful Belizean Confederate ''colonies'', their numbers dwindled as the harsh conditions took their toll, and the sugar market collapsed (few were willing to turn to rum-production as an alternative).
The area is now represented by the East Indian villages of the descendents of the indentured servants who came to work for them
Forest Home,
Eldridgeville,
Jacintoville, and
Yemeri Grove.
