'''Melton Mowbray'''[http://www.melton.co.uk] - usually referred to locally as just '''''Melton''''' - is a market town in the county of Leicestershire, England. It is famous for the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie and as the centre of Stilton Cheese production.
Get in
Melton lies about 15 miles (25km) north-east of Leicester.
Train services are provided by East Midlands Trains and CrossCountry on the Birmingham - Leicester - Peterborough line, with services about hourly in both directions (a bit more frequently during rush hours, and a very poor service on Sundays).
Buses also go to/from Leicester, Oakham, Nottingham, Loughborough and Grantham. However it is worth noting that only Leicester is accessible by bus on a Sunday. Service provided by Arriva buses.[http://www.arrivabus.co.uk/__80256E280053B5B6.nsf/vWeb/FBFEC326EBFB93F9802570AC0054F35C/$File/5,%205A,%205B%20for%206%20May%202007.pdf]. All other local services in and out of Melton appear to be provided by Paul James Coaches [http://www.pauljamescoaches.co.uk/busroutes/index.htm]

The '''Harboro Hotel'''[http://www.harborohotel.co.uk] has a good variety of traditional real ales and offers an excellent Sunday lunch.
The nearby '''Noel's Arms''' also has real ales, and live bands on Fridays and Saturdays. The bands tend to be formulaically loud.
'''The Crown''' next door to St Mary's Church is a splendid pub, the landlord Mr Trettis being the longest serving in the town. Sunday lunches are of a very high standard.
