Yizhou has a train depot and can be reached by bus from Guilin (4 hours) or Nanning.
Taxis are available throughout the city. Three-wheel motorized taxis called _O?? are ubiquitous and take you around the city for only a few rmb.
One of the best times of the year to visit Yizhou is during Chinese New Year. Locals take to the streets in the evening and set off a display of fireworks that resembles a warzone. Accommodations during this time might be a little hard, but not impossible, to find.
The main reason to come to Yizhou is to see the scenic karst formations in the countryside. Karst mountains jut up out of the landscape in the middle of the city. In the surrounding countryside ethnic minority farmers plant sugar cane.
Tours up and down the local river on large boats or wooden rafts are available.
In the center of the city is a statue of the legendary Song Dynasty singer Liu Sanjie (?_O__), renowned for her beautiful singing voice.
In the area surrounding are a stone dam from the Qing dynasty and several very large waterwheels.
Expensive plush hotels and cheap dives are available throughout Yizhou.
Congregated around the bus station are a number of cheap to mid range hotels.
Mid-range
Trains and long-distance buses are available for major regional destinations. The bustling long distance bus station includes frequent buses to Guilin (4 hours), Nanning, Guangzhou (12 by bus), and Guiyang.
