El Valle de Anton is located in floor of an old extinct volcanic crater which serves as a nice weekend getaway from the heat and humidity of Panama City and the beaches. It is ringed with scenic mountains such as El Gaital.
There is a large indian market on sundays, where various local crafts are displayed.
Some of the local attractions are El Nispero, a local private zoo, a large waterfall called "El Macho", and a grove of square trees (the trunks are square, though no one is quite sure why)....
There are frequent buses from San Carlos and Panama City. You can always get on a bus on the entrance to El Valle on the Panamerican Highway. The last bus runs a 8 pm.
