The town makes an ideal stop for those taking a train trip between New Zealand's largest cities, as one can leave the train for a day then join the next day's train to continue on to your destination.
'''By Car'''
Te Kuiti is on Highway 3, between Hamilton and New Plymouth.
Get around
You can easily walk from one end of the town to the other, though during the hot summertime you'll probably want to take a break now and then.
The train station is located in the center of town. Exiting the station, to your left there is an Information Center and public restrooms. Rora Street, which parallels the station, has places to eat and shop.
The Information Center can give you a map of town which points out different things to see as you walk around the town.

The '''Great New Zealand Muster''' is a famous New Zealand event, in which sheep from the surrounding area run into Te Kuiti. Sheep-shearing competitions and general fun are to be had.
