Rainier Valley is in southeastern Seattle.
Rainier Valley is considered to be the most diverse section of the city, some have even said it is one of the most diverse areas in the country. Recent census studies show that it is a pretty even split between whites, blacks and Asians, with Hispanic and Pacific Islander groups making up significant portion of the population as well. Immigrants make up a large portion of the population in the area, most from South East Asian Countries as well as the Eastern Horn of Africa.
Get in
Rainier Ave S. and MLK Way are the two main thoroughfares that run north and south through the district. Metro Bus routes #7 and #42 provide the majority of the public transportation in and out of the Valley. As of September 2009, light rail will go under Beacon Hill and along MLK Way, then on to the airport.
