Prince Rupert has a small airport with domestic service only to Vancouver by propeller plane. Flights take two hours each way. There are two flights a day on Air Canada and one flight a day on Hawkair. Prince Rupert airport is located on Digby Island which is a short ferry ride away from Prince Rupert. There is a free shuttle bus/ferry service between the airport and downtown Prince Rupert. Because of the additional time required for the airport bus and ferry, it takes four hours to travel between downtown Prince Rupert and Vancouver International Airport.
By vehicle take Highway 16 west from Prince George The drive takes roughly eight hours. It is not advisable to drive this road in winter months unless you are familiar with treacherous winter highway conditions. Vehicle ferries connect to the Queen Charlotte Islands, Vancouver Island, and Alaska.
There is daily Greyhound bus service between Prince George and Prince Rupert.
VIA Rail Canada offers a route from Jasper to Prince Rupert, with an overnight layover in Prince George.
