Lewisham is accessible via an overland train from London Bridge (10 mins) to New Cross, New Cross gate, Deptford, St Johns, Lewisham, Ladywell, Lee, Blackheath and Hither Green stations and by Docklands Light railway (DLR) from Bank and Docklands to Lewisham station (approx 25 minutes from Bank, 15 minutes from Canary Wharf).
One area of the borough used to have two tube stations, New Cross and New Cross Gate, however these are currently closed. They are due to reopen as the East London Railway in summer 2010 with services to New Cross Gate from Croydon, Crystal Palace and Dalston.
The following buses also serve the area (* denotes that they serve central London):
Other areas in the borough include Forest Hill, Dulwich, New Cross, Brockley and Lee.

Shopping in Lewisham is uninspiring. There are two shopping centres: the major one of these is Lewisham itself (the area as distinct from the Borough) and the appallingly shabby Catford.
The old working-class area of Deptford still has a lively street market on Saturdays and Wednesdays. But beware, this is a real street market - it is neither trendy or touristy!
A short bus ride will take you over the border into Greenwich and its world famous market, which is best visited on Sundays.
