National parks

About 2 % of the Polish ground is protected in 23 national parks, most of them are in the South and East of the country, especially in Malopolskie (six) and Podlaskie (four).

  • Biebrza National Park – national park in Podlaskie along the Biebrza River with the greatest number of birds in Europe.

  • Bory Tucholskie National Park – national park in Kujawsko-Pomorskie protecting the Tucholskie Forests.
  • Drawa National Park – national park in Zachodniopomorskie protecting the widelife of the river Drawa.
  • Gorce National Park – national park in Malopolskie in the Beskid Mountains.
  • Gory Sto?owe National Park – national park in Dolno?l?skie in the Sudetes around the Szczeleniec Mountain (~1000m) with bizarre rocks.
  • Kampinos National Park – national park in Mazowieckie protecting the Kampinos Forests.
  • Karkonoski National Park – national park in Dolno?l?skie in the Sudetes around the ?nie?ka Mountain (1602m) with beautiful waterfalls.
  • Magura National Park – national park in Malopolskie in the Beskid Mountains.
  • Narew National Park – national park in Podlaskie protecting the widelife of the river Narew.
  • Ojcowski National Park – national park in Malopolskie in the Polish Jura with bizarre rocks.
  • Pieni?ski National Park – national park in Malopolskie in the Pieniny with the break-through of the Dunajec River through the Pieniny Mountains.
  • Podleski National Park – national park in Lubelskie protecting the widelife of the swamps in Podlesie.
  • Roztocze National Park – national park in Lubelskie protecting the widelife of the river Tanew.
  • S?owi?ski National Park – national park in Pomorskie at the Baltic Sea with the biggest dunes in Europe.
  • ?wi?tokrzyski National Park – national park in ?wi?tokrzyskie in the ?wi?tokrzyskie Mountains.
  • Tatrza?ski National Park – national park in Malopolskie in the Tatra Mountains around the Rysy Mountain, with bears, wolves and other animals.
  • Uj?cie Warty National Park – national park in Lubuskie with swamps and many birds.
  • Wielkopolski National Park – national park in Wielkopolskie protecting the widelife of the Wielkopolskie Lakes.
  • Wigry National Park – national park in Podlaskie protecting the widelife of the Lake Wigry.
  • Wolin National Park – national park in Zachodniopomorskie protecting the widelife of the Island Wolin.
