The Shirvan region boasts of a rich history. The region is well know for its crafts including carpet weaving, silks, and metal works.

The region also contains varied landscapes; from the mountains of Shamakhi to the flat plains of Ujar to the dry sands of Kyurdamir. With such a variety of soils and climates, this region is capable of producing a wide range of agriculture. Ask an Azeri about Goychay and the topic of pomegranate (nar) is sure to come up. Goychay is well know for its high quality of the bitter-sweet fruit.
