The train that runs between George and Knysna via Sedgefield and Wilderness is known as the [http://www.onlinesources.co.za/chootjoe Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe], and is the last-remaining scheduled steam-hauled train service in South Africa. It is a not-to-be-missed experience ; the scenery along the route is stupendous, and includes the Kaaimans River bridge (the most-photographed railway bridge in the world) and the bridge over the Knysna lagoon.
The railway station is just north of town. There are two or three trains a day to George (in the west) and Knysna (in the east).
Unfortunately, due to heavy rainfall and flooding in 2006, this train service has been suspended until further notice.
