You could travel to this beautiful, quaint town by road or rail. If you are travelling by air, then you can fly to either Rajahmundry or Visakhapatnam. Both places are well connected to major cities, take road or rail transport from there.

Kakinada is connected to the capital city Hyderabad by direct train, which covers the journey overnight. There are several trains which can bring you from all across the country to Samalkot, which is only about 15km away from Kakinada. Frequent bus, taxi and auto connections can take you to Kakinada in 20 - 25 minutes from Samalkot.

Kakinada remains one of the few places in which you can enjoy an open top rickshaw ride across town while you enjoy the breeze and the colourful market streets in this beautiful town.

City buses, Taxis, Autorickshaws are the major means of transport within the city. Private bus operators provide transport services to various parts of the country. '''Sea''' Kakinada deep water port is the second largest in the state after Visakhapatnam port. It is operated by Kakinada Seaports Limited. Before the deep water port was built, the anchorage port was the largest of the forty minor-ports operating in India. It is well connected to all major seaports in the country. Currently both deep water port and older anchorage port operate side by side. It has a good seaport also.

JSW Infrastructure and Logistics, an infrastructure and logistics company owned by the JSW group is building ship repair and shipyard facilities near kakinada port with an investment of about US$250 million.[4]

Also, a second port is being planned to be built exclusively to serve KSEZ (Kakinada Special Economic Zone).[5]
