Dettenhausen is a village in the administrative district (Kreis) of Tubingen, in the Schoenbuch Nation Park. It is located 11 km north of Tubingen, and about 25 km south of Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Wurttemberg. Dettenhausen was first officially mentioned in the Codex Hirsaugiensis in around 1100 BC as "Detenhusen".
Dettenhausen has 5.421 citizens (as of June 30, 2008).
Dettenhausen's coat of arms is a red deer against a yellow background with a yellow ear of grains against a red background.
Dettenhausen is ideally located to go hiking, swimming, eat great food and visit the Schonbuchmuseum, the local museum with exhibits about stone cutting, forestry and hunting.
Dettenhausen has a very active sister city program with two cities, one in the former East of Germany, Treuen and one in Hungary, Tab.
