Get in
Get around
While currently lacking any means of mass transit, the town does contain some paved roads that extend throughout the entire local area, facilitating travel by car or bike to the many points of interest in Bridgeville.
One thing to note while driving through these streets is that police officers can be quite irritable and pull you over for minor infractions. You only need to worry about this Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM however, as the police station is otherwise closed.
See
'''Chicken Houses''' - Bridgeville, and most of the surrounding area, is home to some of the largest Chicken Houses in the state. These are a must see! Persistent explorers may even encounter the elusive double or triple-decker chicken house.
'''Big Sprinklers'''. Bridgeville is also home to some of the largest sprinklers most people could imagine. These things span 200 yards or more. But don't let the kids go running through them, because it's not just water shooting out of them. And when you're driving down the sprawling back country roads, be sure to keep your windows up or you might get wet!
- You could see the Apple Orchard and Rapa Scrapple Factory. These are the two places that put together "Apple Scrapple"
- If your traveling to Bridgeville this Christmas, make sure to see "Stocking Stuffers" A play put together by Woodbridge Drama Club at the High School. It's December, 6th, 7th, and 8th. Admissions are $3.00.
Do
There is officially very little to do in Bridgeville.
You can watch the local police operate several speed traps to pull over tourists from Maryland and D.C. heading for more interesting places.
You can also watch the corn, soybeans, and potatoes grow in the summer.
Or you can watch greedy developers tear up the corn, soy, and potato fields for overpriced tract housing that the local infrastructure can't support.
Bridgeville is host to the annual Apple Scrapple Festival (see www.applescrapple.com)which takes place the second weekend in October every year. The festival has grown every year since it's inception in 1991 and this small town (pop 1,500) plays host to about 30,000 visitors over the weekend.
In 2007, a farmer's field near Bridgeville will become the new host of Sussex County's annual Punkin' Chunkin' (www.punkinchunkin.com). This takes place in early November.
