'''Zamora''' is a city and provincial capital in Castile and Leon in Spain. For some reason (or none) Zamora is visited less than some of the other great cities. It is true that it lacks some of the more specific attractions of Segovia, Avila and Salamanca but it has the same sort of history and the attractions below are sufficient to make it a shame that it is not more noted. It was once known as 'La Cerada' meaning 'the closed one' in view of its elevated position above the Duero (Duro inPortugal) and the difficulty of attacking it.

Try to avoid Mondays, when even the churches and the Cathedral as well as the shops and museums are closed.
