'''Wuyuan'''(?__) is a city in Jiangxi. It is the central transportation hub to the many beautiful villages in the region.

Get in

Wuyuan does not have a train station. The nearest city is Jingdezhen, where there are regular buses from the Licun Bus Station to Wuyuan North Bus Station (2 hours). There are also buses from Nanchang, Huangshan, Hangzhou, Quanzhou, Shanghai, and various large cities in the general region.

Get around

There is very little in the way of public transportation around Wuyuan region. The only regular bus service goes between Wuyuan North Station and Qinghua village (6 kuai, 30 minutes). There are swarms of motorcycle taxis throughout the area, it's also possible to rent them for the day. They should typically charge 1 kuai/2 minutes of travel, make sure of the price before the ride. A trip from Wuyuan to Small Likeng should cost about 10 kuai. There are also a few taxis that cost four or five times much as a motorcycle.

See

There are many small villages and temples throughout the region, and a number of scenic spots where it's rewarding just to stop and look around. Many of the villages will charge an admission, with a large majority being operated by a single company - you can purchase a ticket that grants admission to a certain number of sites. 110 kuai will grant three entrances, 150 kuai grants five.

  • '''Small Likeng''' (_____B) - An impressive old village built around several creeks that intersect. There are Buddhist temples, active farms, traditional homes, and teahouses. However with narrow pathways and many guided tour groups, it's best visited on weekdays or off-season.
  • '''Sixi Yancun'''_i_v______) - A strange claustrophobic village with tall gray walls and narrow maze-like streets. It's possible to take the bus between Wuyuan and Qinghua and get off in the middle, at the turnoff - the area near the turnoff is extremely beautiful, crossing the bridge to the small hamlet is worthwhile. From the turnoff, it's still a ten minute motorcycle ride past a beautiful village and on to Sixi Yangcun.
  • '''Qinghua'''_i__? - Rainbow Bridge is a nice if underwhelming bridge, inside a small hamlet. More beautiful are the larger bridges nearby - from the Rainbow Bridge entrance, walk alongside the river, turn right when you have to, past the row of shops and dentists, and make a left at the first intersection. After a few minute's walk, at the bend in the road, is an amazing look over a valley, it's easy to go down and explore. This is also the place to get a bus back to Wuyuan.
  • '''Big Likeng''' (_____B) - Northwest of Small Likeng, and not operated by the same company as most of the other villages.
  • '''Fucun Town'''
  • '''Wenggong Mountain'''
  • '''Dazhong Mountain'''
  • '''Wang Kou'''
  • '''Jiangwan'''
  • '''Xiaoqi''' _i?_N_j
  • '''Jiangling'''
  • Do

    Talk

Very little English is spoken, although most of the touristed villages will have signs in English, Japanese, and Korean, as well as Chinese. If you are not Asian expect have people constantly yell "hello" at you, and stare.

Li Yang Gen, Small Likeng (first hotel/restaurant on rhs before old bridge), ? 13879349519. a good place to stay and eat in Small Likeng . Friendly familly, good rooms with a patio area on the top floor. Hot showers, double with private bathroom and air con. Was clean and good value when we stayed there.
