    Understand

The Amalfi Coast is a stunning beauty with its steep sloped lemon tree gardens and coloured terrace houses and stunning views and azure sea. It is south east of Naples starting from Positano stretching almost to Salerno. Along the coast line you will find places like Amalfi, Ravello etc., each of them stunning beauties with their own flair. The Amalfi Coast is a well known secret to German and American tourists and prices are high compared to nearby Naples.

    Get in

  • From Naples take the boat [http://www.metrodelmare.com MetroDelMare] to Amalfi or the Sita coach [http://www.sitabus.it/wps/portal/DovePartire_Campania]; Sita runs direct services from Naples to Amalfi approximately 4 times a day (about 1hr 50 minutes), otherwise you can change in Salerno.
  • From Sorrento you can take the boat [http://www.metrodelmare.com MetroDelMare] or a Sita bus.
  • From Salerno take the Sita bus services to Amalfi and Positano.
  • Ferries from Naples, Capri, Salerno and Paestum during summer months.
  • Car is discouraged because of the road size and lack of parking. During the summer there may be limitations on the road for tourist buses: e.g. sometimes the road along the coast is one way only for tourism buses from Sorrento to Salerno.
  • Get around

  • '''By Bus''': Sita buses [http://www.sitabus.it/wps/portal/DovePartire_Campania] go along the coast from Sorrento to Amalfi and from Amalfi to Salerno. Choose the region "Campania" from the website to find the timetables. Tickets cannot be purchased on board but are very easy to find in bars, newsagents, etc.
  • Ferries : Boat service [http://www.metrodelmare.com] from Naples to Sorrento and Amalfi, and from Amalfi to Salerno and beyond
  • Bikes : There are no bike lanes. Heavy traffic and the road size make cycling quite dangerous
  • Scooters, mopeds, motorcycles: they are actually the best way to get around. You can rent them in Positano,Praiano and Maiori. If you don't have a European "A" (motorcycle) licence, consult with the Italian consulate in your home country to verify you can ride a scooter. Please be advised you should only rent one if you have prior experience: DO NOT IMPROVISE, IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS! Also bear in mind most towns tend to charge for parking
