Thankfully Roehampton is safer now than it use to be, however there are some areas which are best avoided particularly at night. This includes the Alton Estate, which is quite cut off and can be quite dark at night. Hooded youths should be avoided when possible and vigilance should be taken if on a bike or motorcyle. Bike and Motorcycle crime is a problem in Roehampton, and stolen abandoned bikes are quite a common sight. Walking alone at night should be avoided if possible. Try not to use your mobile phone if you decide to enter the Alton Estate.
