'''Taukkyan War Cemetery''' (''situated a little beyond the long distance bus terminal'') - contains the graves of over 6000 allied soldiers and memorials together with the names of over 27,000 allied soldiers who lost their lives in Burma during the Second World War. Well maintained by the Commonwealth Graves Commission, the sheer mass of names gives a sense of the destructive nature of war, and some sense of the destruction the war brought to Burma. From Yangon, a visit to the cemetery can easily be combined with a trip to Bago. Rent a car (US$20 round trip) or take a bus (from either the Aung Minglar Terminal or from the intersection of the Strand and Sule Pagoda road) (700 kyat). Flagging a pickup (300 kyat) or bus for the return journey is easy from outside the cemetery.
