Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, located 600 km north of Adelaide in South Australia's more ruggedly spectacular northern Flinders Ranges, is a privately owned resort of 610 square kilometres in area and operated by the Sprigg Family.

Get in

Access is usually by vehicle, organised tours or 4WD clubs, private or chartered aircraft (suitable airstrips available at Arkaroola and nearby Balcanoona National Park).

Arkaroola is located 130 km east of Leigh Creek/Copley, or 300 km north of Yunta - in all, 600 km north of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. Although the 130 km from Copley and 300 km from Yunta are on unsealed roads, no problems should be encountered provided the normal care and attention is taken. If in doubt as to road conditions, contact Arkaroola or the State Transport Authority.

Get around

Arkaroola has over 100 km of graded roads within its boundaries - some are suitable for 2WD and others more suitable for 4WD. Full information can be obtained from the Arkaroola Visitor Information Centre at the Wilderness Sanctuary.
